Feeding problems are the most common difficulty new mothers face. Babies with feeding issues either have trouble latching on or don't swallow enough milk because they can't breathe. Thankfully, there are many treatment options for feeding problems that range from switching to a formula to surgery.

Tongue Tie & Procedure

Tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) is a condition in which an unusually short, thick or tight band of tissue (lingual frenulum) tethers the bottom of the tongue's tip to the floor of the mouth. If necessary, tongue-tie can be treated with a surgical cut to release the frenulum (frenotomy). The actual procedure only take a few seconds and most babies are not in any discomfort within a few minutes.

After Care

After the procedure you will feed or nurse your baby. There is sometimes a very small amount of bleeding momentarily. Dr Hibbert will then give you an aftercare talk including an exercise to aid movement of your babies tongue.
